Kalatop is at an altitude of 2440 meters, and is about 9 KM from G.P.O and is one of the wildlife reserve near Dalhousie. No trip to Dalhusie is complete without going through the nature trail, through the thick forests of Deodar (Cedar) trees and alpine hills.

KalatopKalatop has lots to offer by way of a starkly beautiful landscape draped in white. One can walk here for hours, enjoying the stretches of silence, the gently sloping road and the sometimes five feet deep stretches of snow.

From Lakarmandi, a motorable road through the dense forest leads to the Kalatop Forest Resthouse, established in 1925, is a perfect spot for a weekend retreat. The panoramic views of Pir Panjal Range and countryside are breathtaking. However, Hiking is the best way to appreciate the beauty of the flora and fauna. One can trek through Lakarmandi to Kalatop Forest Resthouse and enjoy the beatiful nature.
