Holi

Holi is the festival of Colors and is marked as the opening festival in Hindu calendar. The festival of holi falls on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun (February or March in English Calendar). This festival also marks the end of chilled winter days and the beginning of the summer in India. Originally Holi was regarded to be the festival to celebrate good harvests and fertility of the land.

It's an occasion that brings in joy, laughter and fun, music and dance, and, lots of bright colors. People in India enjoy themselves playing with several colours and celebrate the whole day with joy and happiness. People forget their enmity and throw away their worries. Every nook and corner presents atypically colourful sight.

Everywhere people - young or old are drenched with different colours and water which comes from everywhere, there are balloons bursting and long piston squirting coloured water. People in small groups are seen singing, dancing and throwing colors on each other.

This year festival of holi will be celebrated on 8th of March 2012.
