Naini Tal Lake forms the hub of the beauty of Nainital. It is within a perimeter of nearly 3.5 KM, surrounded by huge hills covered with green trees, attractive houses and cottages. The depth of Naini Lake is said to range between a maximum 28 metres and a minimum of 6 metres.
The reflection of green hills and clouds holds one spell bound. More beautiful than this however is the lake at night when the myriads of bulbs from the hill sides and quite a large number hanging near the lake’s edge stab their magic light into its waters.
The Naini lake offers the visitors an opportunity for yachting, boating or paddling the boat. Boating in the mammoth lake is enjoyed by every one, espacially by the children. Boating rates in conventional rowing boats is about INR 160 in peak season covering half of the Naini Lake. Rowing as well as paddling boats are available at both ends of lake.
The Boat House Club Nainital, at the Naini Lake, is the Second Oldest Club in India and was established in 1890 as the Nainital Club located right on the northern edge of the lake. The club, exclusively holds the management of yatching in Nainital.
